Are You Taking Bites From Other People’s Success?

Goal: Discuss that having opinions does not make you correct
People as a general rule have way too many opinions. Opinions about this. Opinions about that. Even things that are not their business.
Is it curiosity?
I find it interesting that people will have more and more opinions the more success you find. It must be hard to be super successful because people will always want to take a bite of their success.
Why?
Having an opinion and being very critical of a successful person most often comes from hunger for success (jealousy). It is the only taste of success that the critical person most likely would taste.
Can you give an example?
The other morning I was running and listening to a show in which a person had wrote in that the guest, John Lee Dumas (JLD) the host of Entrepreneur On Fire, was a fake success. This was shocking to the guest.
BUT…
JLD paused for a moment and said that he felt bad for the person and apparently they were in pain. He described how he was transparent about his success. Later on he wanted the person to email him directly and he would send them his new book and a couple of his popular journals. JLD wanted him to succeed and wanted to gift these to the hurting person.
The attacking person attacked the wrong guy. If you bother to listen to the show, JLD does a monthly show where he shares what he earned that month, the source of his income, and his CPA and lawyer are there to confirm the information.
Can you be more transparent than that?
I thought the way JLD handled the negative person was class. He did not bad mouth but explained himself and offered to help his critic.
How many of us would have been so nice?
The lesson is that we might be entitled to our stupid opinions BUT that does not mean we need to share them with the world. Stop yourself from taking a bite from someone else’s apple. It might be a bitter Granny Smith.
