How Long Does One Minute Really Last For You?
…how can you test it?
We all experience time differently. When we were young time seemed like it took forever. A minute seemed like it took 5 minutes.
As we get older time tends to pick up pace. I remember turning 21 and next thing I know I hit 30. 30s were a blur. 40s were even faster. Now 50s are halfway done.
What is the point?
We have experienced this difference in time perception as we get older BUT is there all there is to is?
Nope..
There are times when we enter a state of flow and seems like time slows down to a crawl. We could be busy doing something and really get into it. Time just seems to stay still.
All this is nice BUT so what?
Well, could you test the idea of your perception of how fast or slow time passes?
Yes…
First download a stopwatch/timer for your phone. Next find a comfortable chair to sit in. Get the timer ready.
Next at the same time press the start timing button and close your eyes. Just relax and breathe. When you believe that a minute has passed, open your eyes and catch the timer time.
Record it… And repeat this for one week.
I am going to do this next week. I hope you do it also.
What do you suspect? I already suspect what the result will be. I will write about my experiment next week after I have repeated it 7 times.
