I Am The Cause of All of My Results Today
Goal: To stretch the concept of things happening FOR ME with actions
I feel very strongly that everything that happens to me happens for me.
That seems very passive. I am anything but passive. I believe in actively managing my actions.
It is the rule: If I do X then Y will happen most of the time.
Notice that I still have to do X part of the rule. That requires action. So I am responsible for the action part.
With the action completed I should expect a result. Now that is where there the magic is. We look at outcomes as the center of a target. We are aiming for the center BUT unfortunately we rarely get the exact center.
This is where “most of the time” portion of the rule comes to play. It tells us that once the action is taken it could produce an outcome that is slightly different than we expect.
We have to realize that we got a result. We have to understand the action can be changed slightly and we could get a slightly better result. Maybe with this new action we hit a bit closer to the center. This process is iterative.
Again, I am the owner of he results. Without owning the result I am less tempted to modify my actions to get better result.
What is important to realize is that most often the action does not lead to fantastic success or utmost failure. It gives us a RESULT!!!
That result happened FOR ME due to my action(s). To get a better result I need to modify my actions.
I got to go…my future self alarm went off
