Goal: To Differentiate between you and work you do
Over the years I have heard people complain about their jobs. It is my belief that majority of people are truly unhappy with the jobs that they have BUT that those jobs are their identity.
It is sad…
We have to dissociate from the job. There is difference between the job and work. You are hired to do work for a particular job. The work needs to be done very well.
You are not doing the work for your boss BUT yourself.
The quality of the work that you produce will increase the likelihood of you liking the job. You in reality make the job. NOT The other way around that the job makes you.
Don’t identify as a title BUT as a person that creates product X to satisfy the needs of client X. By the way your customers as often internal and not external.
I believe that most jobs these days become our lives. BUT you are so much more than that. The real life you live must include your family. As a matter of fact your family should be your primary focus. Without that, your real life become the job. An escape.
You are a person NOT an employee.
You produce work for your employer. It should be quality work. At times that work will be judged superior and at times inferior. That could simply be politics. SO even though you produce work, you are not the work. You are the person who produces the work. You can always change how and at what level you produce the work.
Take care of YOUR SELF. You are enough. Do the best you can and look for ways to improve. Be a gentle self-judge and keep nudging yourself to a better level of performance.
