Why You Should Not Put Your Sundials in the Shade?
Do you still have your rotary phone?
Goal: To discuss how talents are to be used
Most of us have never used a sundial. Sundials were the rage 1000+ years ago. By positioning a sundial in the sun one can approximate the time of day.
So what happens on cloudy days?
On cloudy days you get no information on time. The only way for a sundial to function and thrive is in the sun. Shade takes away its power.
Your talents are a lot like a sundial. Without exposing them to an opportunity they are useless. They wither and die.
Ok maybe they do not die but they do not serve their purpose. They are dormant and useless.
Your talents are the potential energy inside you. You are a compressed spring waiting to be released. If that spring does not get released, the potential energy in the spring never gets utilized. The potential is lost.
If the spring is released the potential energy become kinetic. Kinetic energy is one of motion. It is the one that does work and produces results.
I love Nike’s slogan. Just do it! It urges us to move and do something. Don’t overthink it. Just do it!
Phil Knight the founder of Nike once said that, “…Cowards never tried. Weak failed along the way. That leaves us.”
Without exposing and expressing your talents you are a coward. If you fail and never try again then you are weak. By willing to try and try again more intelligently you will outlast the competition and ultimately succeed.
So position your sundial towards the sun. It will be a scorcher of a day….
Just do it!!!!
My nineteen cents….(this is what I earned from Medium.com for Dec. 2020)
I got to go…my future self alarm went off
