Would You Want To Go Back And Erase A Mistake in Your Life?
if you could….
Goal: discuss the good and bad of mistakes
All of us live our lives and along the journey we experience ups and downs. This is normal. BUT what if you could go back and erase one if not all the mistakes along the path?
Groundhog day?
I am sure along the journey you suffered defeats, embarrassments, and major setbacks. You were going towards one thing and got hit from the front, side or the back and got completely thrown off your feet and path. You recovered and maybe went for it again or another thing.
Similarly, there were moments of utter joy that caused you to float above the earth. You felt that you were unbeatable and anything was possible.
Both of those are extremes but you get it.
So what if you could go back and change the bad into good? Would you do it?
I know I would not.
My logic is that the person I am today is the result of the good and bad that happened along the journey. I am a believer that everything that I did and happened to me is for my benefit. I hold no one else accountable or give control that they caused it. It was me.
Why would I take credit for something that others intentionally did to me? If I do not take that power away from them, then I can not change the situation.
The Serenity prayer, alcoholic anonymous credo , says it wisely
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
asking for 3 things
- To ACCEPT the things that I can not change
- COURAGE to change the things I can change
- WISDOM To know the difference
My prayer is:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I’ve done and that happened to me as the best things that could have happened for me and by me at those moments, and wisdom to grow from them.”
I am asking for 3 things
- To ACCEPT the things that I have done and were done to me as THE BEST THINGS for me
- WISDOM To grow from them
The key is the WISDOM. I would not go back and give away the wisdom I have today due to the things that happened. I would no longer be the person I have become today. I would have not grown.
I know that I am not perfect but hopefully I am wiser today than I was a year ago. Hopefully I have grown in the last year. I know I have and that is why I would not go back and eliminate some major mistakes. Those are the scars on my soul that feed the wisdom. Without the scars, disappointments, and lessons, there would be no wisdom.
The picture of the older gentlemen deep in thought caught my eye. It made me think if he was considering some mistake he had made and would he want the choice to change it.
I am hopeful that you take the time to reflect on the wisdom that you have gained in just the last year. The world and hopefully you have been changed. Hopefully you are wiser and you will make better choices in 2021.
To making better mistakes in 2021…
My seven cents….(this is what I earned from Medium.com for Nov. 2020)
I got to go…my future self alarm went off
